Do you know those dreams that have always been a part of you but that you always thought they were impossible to come true? Well, that’s what happened to us with our trip to Foz do Iguaçu to visit the biggest and most beautiful waterfalls in the world, the Iguazu Falls.

Our trip started in Curitiba, where we were always cold as we told you here. It was 11 am and we boarded the Azul’s flight 4156. The flight to Foz do Iguaçu was calm and as soon as we landed we realized that we were in the Brazil we knew once again, a hot country where the ground smells like rain.

We caught a public bus to the city center and the trip seemed like it was never going to end due to the number of people inside the bus and the ones it picked during the journey that were standing by the side of the road.

We stayed in Che Lagarto Hostel, a very nice place for those who want a secure, clean and comfortable room without having to sell a kidney. After the check-in, we set off to discover the city using the time we had left.

Our first stop was the Bosque Guarani Zoo, a free entrance park located near the bus station. It was full of local wild animals and much more. We saw monkeys, birds, crocodiles, and even a jaguar. After the visit, we continued to discover parts of the city.

As we were getting hungry it would be expectable that we had some kind of lunch to eat but because we were in Brazil we chose to eat an enormous Açaí Bowl. Later that day we ended up cooking our dinner in the hostel. Of course, we ate rice, beans, and farofa!

In the next day we woke up full of energy and ready to visit the famous Iguazu Falls. We caught another public bus that took us to the park’s main entrance.

Iguazu Falls are located inside Iguazu’s National Park, a natural reserve that is also a Natural World Heritage site created in 1934 in Argentina and four years later in Brazil.

After we enter the park we are taken by bus, in a 20-minute journey, to the beginning of the panoramic path that the Brazilian’s side offers us.

The falls are made of 275 waterfalls in the Iguazu River that is part of the hydrographic basin of the Paraná river. They are proof of nature’s strength in our world.

Between waterfalls, green dense forest, a river full of life and uncountable rainbows there’s no way we don’t put our lives into perspective and reflect about how insignificant human beings are compared to this wonder of the natural world.

We had the chance to meet some fantastic animals that live freely in the park such as birds and apes but the ones that caught our attention were the Nasua, this because at the beginning of our trip and throughout the paths, we are constantly warned about the dangers that these apparently nice animals can cause to people.

The Brazilian side allows us to have a panoramic view of most waterfalls but we have to highlight the platform on the top of some cliffs from where we can see the famous Devil’s Throat from a distance. The Devil’s Throat is about 150 meters wide in 80 meters high. It’s just wow!

Fiquem atentos!

In the next few days we will tell you about our trip to the Argentian side of the Falls. Stay tuned!
